Elsie H. Purser's Obituary
Mrs. Elsie H. Purser, age 100, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away Friday, August 18, 2017, at her residence.
Funeral Services to celebrate her life will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday, August 20, 2017, at Davis Funeral Chapel, officiated by Reverend Don Thompson. Interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park.
Mrs. Purser was born on April 4, 1917, in Union County, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Thomas Haigler and Lucinda Benton Haigler. She was a retired seamstress with many of years of service at Allen Overall Company.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emsley Purser; a son, Aaron Purser; a daughter, Marcelene Spittle; two grandsons, David Starnes and Jeffrey Purser: and a great-grandson, Travis Purser. She was also preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include one son, Richard Purser and wife, Kaye, of Monroe; three daughters, Bernice Starnes (the late Reid Starnes) of Monroe, Kathryn Melton (the late Paul Melton) of Monroe, Teresa Clontz and husband, Ricky, of Monroe. There are thirteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, and twelve great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon, August 20, 2017, from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the service at Davis Funeral Home at 1003 East Franklin Street in Monroe.
