Ellis Benjamin (Benny) Mangum's Obituary
Mr. Ellis Benjamin (Benny) Mangum, age 71, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at McWhorter Hospice House.
He was born on February 2, 1944, in Chesterfield County, SC, a son of the late Jesse V. Mangum and Dezzie Threatt Mangum.
Benny was a self-employed construction worker.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a son Benjamin Steve Mangum; his brother Jimmy Mangum; and his sister Vivian Manshack.
Survivors include his former wife, Roma Stewart; a daughter Terry Mangum Starnes and husband Jimmy of Monroe; three sisters Phyllis Phifer of Monroe, NC, Carolyn Phifer of Monroe, NC, and Nancy Adams of Lancaster, SC; and one grandson Dustin L. Starnes of Monroe, NC.
Funeral Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Mangum will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2015, at 3:00 PM at Davis Funeral Chapel, 1003 East Franklin St., Monroe NC, 28112, conducted by Reverend Mack Mullis and Reverend Orville Threatt. Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
