Elizabeth Ann Winchester's Obituary
Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Winchester, 76, passed away peacefully at home on July 5th, 2014. She was born in Waxhaw, NC on April 28th, 1938 to the late Walter D. and Vertie M. Ghant.
Funeral Services to celebrate her life will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Prospect United Methodist Church, officiated by Reverend Steve Phillippi and Reverend Bill Roberts. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Kenneth Wayne Winchester of the home; son Kenneth Wayne Winchester, Jr. and his wife, Judith, of Harvest, AL; daughter Debra Sue Langley and her husband, BJ, of Selbyville, DE; son Albert Dixon Winchester and his wife, Susan, of Bullock, NC; and daughter Sandra Kay Griffin and her husband, Larry, of Monroe, NC. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jeff Norris, Kris Norris, Kim Jewell, Crystal Caldwell, Katie Winchester, Mandi Winchester, Stephanie Griffin and Meredith Griffin; six great-grandchildren, Chase Lowery, Kiera Norris, Gaia Norris, CJ Jewell, Hanna Jewell and Hailey Jewell.
Ann's greatest loves were her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her church family. She loved to paint, sew and many other crafts, as well as singing at the Prospect United Methodist Church, which she and Wayne attended for more than 30 years. Ann and Wayne traveled extensively over the years, visiting 49 of the 50 United States, as well as Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Canada and Mexico. They enjoyed meeting new people and seeing new places wherever they visited.
Ann's impact on people everywhere she went was evident by the love she received from those she met and was reflected by her strength, caring, and compassion in the face of great physical adversity for many years of her life.
The family will receive friends Tuesday night, July 8, 2014, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Davis Funeral Home at 1003 East Franklin Street in Monroe.
