Edwin Hoyle Snuggs' Obituary
Edwin Hoyle Snuggs, 81, of Albemarle passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2016 in his home.? His funeral service will be 11 AM Tuesday, February 23, 2016 in Randall?s United Methodist Church with Rev. David McCauley officiating.? Burial will follow in the church cemetery.? The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6 until 8 PM.
Born August 12, 1934 in Moore County, NC, he was the son of the late Thomas Alva Snuggs and Eva Needham Snuggs and was a retired Sales Rep with Metropolitan Life.? Mr. Snuggs was a member of Randall?s United Methodist Church and a former member of Central United Methodist Church and a Veteran of the US Navy.? During his college years, he was the Aquatics Director at the Stanly County YMCA.? He enjoyed hunting and fishing and during his life was active with the Boy Scouts, Jaycees, Albemarle HS Booster Club, American Legion, and Sons of the American Revolution.? He was instrumental in bringing Legion Baseball to Stanly County.
Mr. Snuggs was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis Covington Snuggs.? Survivors include sons Edwin L. Snuggs and wife Cindy of Salisbury, Eric H. Snuggs of Norwood, E. Phillip Snuggs and wife Kristi of Wendell, sisters Jeanette Vaughn of Albemarle and Barbara Reap of Norwood, grandchildren Brice, Brady, Erica, Erin, Kali and Keslee.? He was preceded in death by brothers Leon and Needham Snuggs and sister Gwendolyn Chapman.
The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Stanly and the Uwharrie, 960 N. First St., Albemarle, NC 28001 or to Boy Scouts of America, 32252 NC Hwy 24-27, Albemarle, NC 28001.
