Edith Coble Hathcock's Obituary
Edith Coble Hathcock, 87, of Albemarle, NC, passed away Monday, August 14, 2023 at Trinity Place, Albemarle, NC. Her funeral service will be 2pm Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Shad Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12pm until 1:30pm prior to the service at the church.
She was born August 28, 1935, in Stanly County, NC, to the late Julius “Vernon” Coble and Bertha Melinda Smith Coble. Edith was a administrative specialist with the State of North Carolina, serving in Stanly and Union Counties. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for 87 plus years, where she was a longtime choir member and a member of the Singing Americans of Stanly County. She was very close with her three families, her personal family, church family, and work family.
Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Philmore Hathcock. She is survived by two sons, Jeffery Carl Hathcock and wife Tammy of Dadeville, AL, and Phillip Vernon Hathcock and wife Dawn of Salisbury, NC; a brother, Larry Coble (Donna) of Albemarle, NC; five grandchildren, Jessica Arthur (Don) of Dadeville, AL, Jennifer Bober (Mike) of Mt. Juliet, TN, Ashley Hathcock of Raleigh, NC, Phillip Hathcock of Norwood, NC and Chase Hathcock (Taylor Phillips) of Salisbury, NC and five great-grandchildren, Dallas Hathcock, Jefferson Arthur, Millie Arthur, Wriston Bober and Sterling Bober.
