Edith Galloway "Edie" Almond's Obituary
Edith Galloway "Edie" Almond, 84, of Albemarle, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 3, 2026.
A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2026, at Gold Hill Cemetery.
Born in Gold Hill, Edie was the beloved daughter of the late Toye and Mazalee Chapman Galloway. She was a hardworking, caring woman whose life was defined by her devotion to her family and the countless friendships she formed through her work. As the longtime owner and operator of Log Cabin Bar-B-Que, she welcomed generations of customers with warmth, kindness, and a genuine love for serving others. Her restaurant became more than just a place to eat—it was a gathering place where memories were made and friendships flourished.
One of twelve children, Edie treasured her large family and the close bonds they shared throughout her life. She found her greatest joy in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always taking pride in their accomplishments and cherishing every opportunity to spend time with them.
She is survived by her sister, Gaye Funderburk; her three sons, Keith Almond (Kristi), Glen Almond, and Richard Almond (Mitzie); her grandchildren, Bradley Almond, Tyler Almond, Shellie Ridenhour, Alexis Almond, Brandon Wallace, Rich Almond, and Emily Almond; and five great-grandchildren, all of whom will continue to honor her legacy of love, strength, and dedication to family.
The family will receive friends and relatives at the graveside prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tillery Compassionate Care.
Edie will be remembered for her unwavering work ethic, her generous heart, and the love she poured into her family, friends, and community. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
