Dr. Edward H. Myer, Jr.'s Obituary
Dr. (Doc) Edward H. Myer, Jr. of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Mahwah, NJ, passed peacefully on June 15th at the age of 102.
"Doc" as he liked to be called was born October 17, 1911, in Baltimore, MD to the late Dr. Edward H. Myer and Susan Conklin Myer.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Kathryn Ritchie Myer.
"Doc" is survived by his son, Edward H. Myer, III and his wife, Linda, of Bel Alton, MD; daughter, Meri-Kathryn Myer Peed and husband, John, of Charlotte, NC; three grandsons, John Peed, Jr. and wife, Audrey Sarn, of Malibu, Ca, Justin Peed and wife, C.J. Peed, of Wrightsville Beach, NC, Jordan Park-Peed and wife, Eileen, of Redondo Beach, CA; and seven great-grandchildren; Caliegh Peed, Jackson Peed, Tahrique Sarn, Ella Sarn, Nyla Sarn, Zena Sarn, and Ellis Sarn. "Doc" is also survived by two nieces and nephews and their families in NJ.
"Doc" was a graduate of Keystone Academy and the University of Maryland Dental School. He practiced dentistry for 50 years in his home town of Mahwah, NJ. He was a Captain in the US Army and served during WW II.
While living in Mahwah, he was an assistant scout master, and active member of the NJ Dental Society, the local Lions Club, and an original member of the Mahwah Chamber of Commerce.
In 1991, he and his wife moved to Charlotte and spent their retirement years in Charlotte and Ormond Beach, FL, where they had a 2nd home. While living in Charlotte, Doc was an active member of the Seniors Raintree Golf Group. At the age of 89, he shot a "hole in one" at Pebble Creek Golf Course. For the past five years Doc has been living at the Carriage Club, where he had many friends and enjoyed the many activities and social events there.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.
The family will receive friends at a reception on Saturday, June 21st, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, at the Carriage Club, Clubhouse Card Room at 5800 Old Providence Road in Charlotte, NC.
