Dortha ?Dot? Whitley Morton, 95, of Locust passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016 in Stanly Manor.? Her funeral will be a graveside service at 2 PM Friday, March 25, 2016 in the Mission Baptist Church Cemetery.? The family will see friends following the graveside service in the church fellowship hall.
Born March 22, 1921 in Stanly County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Marcus Dewey Whitley and Ida Rose Herrin Whitley and was a homemaker.? She graduated from Ridgecrest School.? Mrs. Morton was a member of? Mission Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Vance Avery Morton in 2006.?? Survivors include sons Dale Morton and wife Joanne of Norwood, Keith Morton and wife Marie of Stanfield, Sherrill Morton and wife Sheila of Locust, Marcus Morton and wife Renee of Locust, daughter Joyce Hunsucker and husband Rogell of Albemarle, sister Madie Little of Oakboro, 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.? 3 Brothers preceded her in death, Barney Whitley, Bruce Whitley, and Clyde Whitley.
The family requests that memorials be made to the charity of the donor?s choice.
