Donnie Ray Snead's Obituary
Donnie Ray Snead, 76, of Concord, peacefully passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
A service with military honors will be held at a later date at the National Cemetery in Salisbury, with Jerry Ervin, Sr. officiating.
Donnie was born on September 15, 1949, in York County, South Carolina, to the late Bill and Olive Snead.
He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 12 years, Joyce Walker. He is also survived by his daughter, Amy Dillon (Timothy), and his adopted daughter, Deborah Snipes (Jimmy); his grandchildren, Christopher Dillon and Amanda Dunn (Randy); and his great-grandchildren, Kristen Ayers, Kaylee Ayers, Kenzie Ayers, and Kimberly Ayers.
Donnie was a proud veteran who held his military service close to his heart. He had a passion for collecting knives and firearms, a love for Corvettes, and found great joy in the outdoors, especially hunting. Above all, he was a devoted husband who took great pride in caring for his wife. Donnie appreciated a quiet, private life and found happiness in life’s simple pleasures.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Deborah Snipes, the staff of Cabarrus County Hospice, and the Salisbury VA Medical Center for the compassionate care and support shown to Donnie during his declining health.
Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Locust is honored to serve the Smead family.
