Donald Raymond Haywood, 81, of Albemarle passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016 in his home.? His funeral service will be 11 AM Wednesday, May 25, 2016 in Forrest Lawn West, Charlotte with Rev. Doug Duggins officiating.? The family will receive friends informally at the home of Mr. Haywood?s daughter.
Born September 4, 1934 in Union County, NC, he was the son of the late Millard Lee Haywood and Anna Belle Hampton Haywood and was a retired mail carrier with the US Postal Service.? He was a member of the Baptist Faith.
Mr. Haywood was first married to Geraldine Harrington Haywood who preceded him in death.? He is survived by his second wife, Clara Hamrick of Charlotte.? Other survivors include daughter Rhonda Haywood Sachs of Albemarle, brothers Reid Haywood of Greensboro, NC and Ronald Haywood of Bossier City, LA, 2 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.? Two brothers preceded him in death, Richard Haywood and Buddy Haywood.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer?s Association, 4600 Park Road #250, Charlotte, NC, 28209 or to the charity of donor?s choice.
