Donald Alymer Dawson's Obituary
Donald Alymer Dawson, 96, of Waxhaw, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026, with his loving family by his side. A Celebration of Life service will be scheduled in Massachusetts at a later date.
He was born on December 2, 1929, in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late Isabella Winifred Smith Dawson and William Oliver Dawson.
Donald spent much of his life as the owner and operator of Dawson Hardware, Cambridge, MA where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. He took great pride in serving his customers and community throughout the years. He also had a deep love for Arabian horses and found great enjoyment in raising and riding them, a passion that brought him many years of fulfillment and happiness.
Those left to cherish his memory include; his special partner, Jan Miles, his children; Cynthia Perry (Jesse) of Utah, Dawn Mortensen (Eric) of Nevada, David Dawson (Pam) of Tennessee, Kathleen Kramer (Raymond) of California, and Jack Dawson (Debbie) of Tennessee, grandchildren; Jeremie, Shelley, Brett, Scott, John, Jessica, Stephanie, Beverly, Todd, Kyle, and Samuel, great-grandchildren; Kai, Jordyn, Drew, Katie, Josh, Matt, Brooks, Kallen, Carter, Layla, Lilly, Harrison, Rowan, Dawson, Reece, Theo, Sawyer, Vivian, and Violet; and his sister, Marilyn Primrose.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his brother, William (Billy) Dawson, and his sister, Linda Gaudet.
Donald will be greatly missed and forever cherished by all who knew and loved him.
