Donald Mortensen Boldt's Obituary
Donald Mortensen Boldt, 90, of Newark, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 23, 2026.
Born on July 20, 1935, in Canton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Paul Boldt, Sr. and Ruth Mortensen Boldt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Lois Rae Boldt; sons, Todd Boldt and Scott Boldt; and brothers, Bob Boldt, Ted Boldt, and Tom Boldt.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 285 W. National Drive, Newark, Ohio 43055. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Services will be officiated by Dr. Stephen Swisher.
Donald graduated from Ohio State University in 1959, where he was a proud member of The Ohio State Marching Band during his senior year. In 1974, he joined the Houston Tidelanders Barbershop Chorus, remaining an active and devoted member for 45 years. Mr. Boldt was a dedicated ceramic engineer who spent his career with Harrop Industries, Inc., where he was respected for his expertise, strong work ethic, and commitment to excellence.
He had a love for travel and throughout his life lived in Pennsylvania, Texas, and North Carolina, before returning to Ohio to continue his work with Harrop Industries, Inc.
Donald was a man of quiet strength, integrity, and strong will. He worked hard to provide for his family and took great pride in doing so. He enjoyed golfing and watching auto racing, and will be remembered for his steady presence, thoughtful nature, and the love he shared with those around him.
He is survived by his daughter, Wendy Rae Boldt Millett (Bruce), daughter-in-law, Lori Anderson Boldt; grandchildren, Alfred Bruce Millett III (Amy), Jessica Boldt, Rachel Stork (Caleb), Allison Boldt, Kelsey Millett, Heather Millett, and Victoria Millett; great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Warren; brother, Paul Boldt (Donna); and sister, Karen Mottice.
