Dixie Pinyan Kendall's Obituary
Dixie Henrietta Pinyan Kendall who was born in Georgia on March 23, 1934, slipped away into the beloved arms of her Savior on January 23, 2021 at Bethany Woods Nursing Home in Albemarle, NC.
She grew up and raised her family in Derita ? the Nevins Community. It was there that she met and married the love of her life, her ?soldier-boy?, Benjamin Reuben Kendall, Jr. who preceded her in death. They were married for 62 years. She was also preceded by her parents, John Sherman Pinyan Sr. and Lodie Sowers Pinyan, her brothers, John Sherman Pinyan II, Pheanis (Chick) Pinyan, Earl Pinyan, Floyd Pinyan, and Patrick Pinyan, her sisters, Ethel Pinyan Wilson, Louise Pinyan Rich, and Maxine Pinyan Price and her daughter, Alice Kendall Rollins.
She is survived by her children, Joyce Kendall Maxwell of Iron Station, Danny Lee Kendall (Maureen) of Kings Mountain, Timothy Bruce Kendall (Tammy) of Stanfield, and Jennifer Rebecca Kendall of Dallas, NC. 14 Grandchildren, Matthew Maxwell, Robin Boone, Pamela Maxwell, Christina Johnson, Tommy Rollins, April Kendall, Nathan Kendall, Amanda Kendall Hodge, Brandon Kendall, Spencer Kendall, Jonathan Kendall, Brian Kendall, Shannon Kendall and Michael Kendall. 18 Great Grandchildren and 7 Great-Great Grandchildren, her brothers, A.G. Pinyan, Otis (Buck) Pinyan, her sisters, Alma Pinyan Horne and Ann Pinyan Stone, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She worked at various times throughout her life; at Kress?s in downtown Charlotte, several mills, her favorite job ? keeping children in her home daycare and her family?s favorite job ? biscuit maker.
Per her request funeral arrangements are as follows: Visitation will be held from 9:00-10:45AM on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Locust. A graveside service will follow at 11AM at Community Baptist Church Cemetery in Locust.? In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice of Stanly & the Uwharrie at 960 North First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001.
