David Waylon Smith's Obituary
David Waylon Smith, 75, of Richfield, NC, passed away on Tuesday, June 25th, 2024, at his home. David’s funeral service will be held on Friday, June 28th, 2024, at 11 AM at Highland Baptist Church. Rev. Mark Lowe will officiate the service. Burial will follow the service at New London Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 AM til 10:45 AM at Highland Baptist Church.
David was born June 15th, 1949, in Stanly County. David was the son of the late Theodore Roosevelt Smith and Leune Jeanette Herlocker Smith. David was a graduate of Pfeiffer University and worked at Cabarrus Health Alliance as a health inspector. He was a member of Highland Baptist Church. David loved working on autos, gardening and being with his grandchildren.
David was married to Cecelia Almond Smith for 18 years. Other survivors include his son, Jason Smith (Katherine) of Richfield, NC, stepsons Terry Hatley (Malinda) of Albemarle, NC, and Darrell Hatley of Mocksville, NC, and his daughter Jill Smith of Oak Island, NC; brother Sidney Smith of New London, mother-in-law Christine Almond of Albemarle, NC; grandchildren Katie Smith, Ben Smith, Coy Hatley, Jeremiah Edwards, and Grayson Hatley. David was preceded in death by his brothers and his sisters Rodger Smith, T.R. Smith Jr., Barbara Smith, Jimmie Smith, Mary Smith, Harley Smith.
