David W. Smith, 61, of Mt. Gilead, NC passed away Friday, July 8, 2016 in his home surrounded by his loving family.? His funeral will be 2 PM Monday, July 11, 2016 at Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Mt. Gilead with Rev. Dave Wensil and Rev. Mike Holyfield officiating.? Burial will take place in Liberty Hill Baptist Church cemetery following the service.? The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 ? 8 PM at Stanly Funeral Home.
Born December 18, 1954 in Montgomery County, he was the son of Jerry Allen Smith and Juanita McRae Smith Sweeney.? Mr. Smith was a self-employed brick mason and cabinet maker and was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Sharon McKethan Smith of the home.? Other survivors include two sons, Matthew Smith and wife Katera of High Point and Mark Allen Smith of Charlotte; one brother, Ronnie Smith and wife Mandy of Albemarle; three sisters, Kay Roberts of Mt. Gilead, Jean Warner and husband Steve of Concord and Kristie Tindall of Decator, IL; one step-mother, Ruth Eudy Smith of Albemarle; a mother-in-law, Argene McKethan of the home; and two grandchildren, Conner Smith and Avery Smith. ?A sister, Ann Smith Hudson, preceded him in death.
