Shortly after moving to Norwood, Dave met my uncle Carlie Lowder while looking for someone to do some backhoe work. He immediately became a friend to the whole family. When patrolling in the area, it was not unusual for him to stop by and eat lunch at my grandparents' table. I think he liked Grandma's cooking and getting a dipper of cold water from the well. He also seemed to enjoy hauling hay and helping Uncle Carlie around the farm when he had a chance. They remained best buddies for more than 50 years. When Uncle Carlie became elderly and lived alone, Dave would call him every morning and again in the evening just to make sure he was OK. And when he went to the park to walk, he would usually stop by for a visit. One could not ask for a better friend than Dave Fisher. He seemed to take great pleasure in helping others. He was a special person, and he will be truly missed. My deepest sympathy to Shirley and the entire family.

Sorry to hear about the loss of Mr. David. My father (Reuben Huneycutt) was a friend of him. They would always talk for hours and always ask about the whole families. He never forgot anyone he ever met. Just keep all the good memories and he will be in all our hearts forever. Prayers for all in this time of need.

Dave was transitioning into his role as Clerk of Court when Connie & I first came to Stanly County. I remember that one of the first questions people would ask as I traveled around the county as the new trooper was, "Do you know Dave Fisher?" It was an honor to be able to answer, "Yes I do." That usually would lead to that person's telling of his or her particular "Dave Fisher story" I quickly learned Dave's effort to enforce our states Motor Vehicle Laws was legendary.
More importantly I think, was the way in which those same people would speak of his honesty and integrity. A person could not ask for a better reputation.
Our world is indeed diminished in having lost so good a man as Dave Fisher.
Our prayer for Shirley and the family would be that they might find comfort and strength in their memories and know the love that others send.

My sincere sympathy for the loss of Dave. Hold on to those wonderful memories. One I will always have of him is when he was Clerk of Court and helped us with the adoption of our three children. He was very sincere, kind, & compassionate. Throughout the years and we have had them since 1984(38 years) he would always ask about them with fondness. He went over & beyond the call of duty in his work relationships. Always considered him a special friend because of this experience. He will be greatly missed. Holding each of you in prayer as God holds you in the palm of His hand.
My deepest condolences to family and friends of D. Fisher. I never had the privilege of being pulled by him, but, every one my age knew I'd him. Back in the 70's, I lived on Stony Gap Rd, well, still do. I remember the times the troopers would eat at Stud Sell's Stony Gap Fish House. Oh the nights him and Jarmin would race. Twice my uncle's bank and rock wall had to be fixed by the state!
Thank you for your service to the state and county.
May precious memories bring the family comfort and joy.
Sincerely

Dave Fisher was a wonderful man that helped so many get past the legal issues affiliated with the death of loved ones. He was always professional, sympathetic and encouraging others who were treading the water of losing a loved one. My prayers go out to his family during these difficult times. Shirley, may God give you the strength that you need during the weeks and months to come.

I am praying for all of you! I remember Dave as a good man. I know my dad thought the world of Dave and I pray they will have a reunion. Love and hugs.
