David William Berry's Obituary
David William Berry, 86, of New London passed away Monday, January 2, 2016 in his home.? His funeral service will be held at 5 PM on Friday, January 6, 2017 in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Christian Herring and Pastor Keith Walters officiating.? Burial will follow at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.? The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care immediately following the funeral service on Friday evening.
Born December 8, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late Oralee Vinsko.? He was a retired Sgt. Major in the US Army and was a former employee of Maxton McDowell Accounting and the Employment Security Commission.? Mr. Berry attended Kendall?s Baptist Church.
Mr. Berry was preceded in death by his wife Doris ?Dood? Russell Berry in 2005.? He is survived by his daughter Kim Garland Smith and husband Richard of New London, brother John Koenig and wife Beverly of Littleton, Colorado, 6 grandchildren Heather Leigh Smith, Sarah Logan Yeo, David Giles Smith, Hank Smith, Mackenzie Smith and Kenny Caspers, and 8 great-grandchildren Lily Grace Phillips, Logan Skye Griffin, Mason Vaughn Phillips, Sydney Marie Smith, Asher Yeo, Zander Yeo, Kiera Huneycutt, and Liam Smith.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Baptist Children?s Homes of NC, 204 Idol St, Thomasville, NC 27360.
