I am currently doing a "Spiritual Journey Timeline." In it, I was asked to reflect on formative seasons that have been part of my journey and helped shape me into the person I am today. As I did this, Dan Weaver came to mind. So I searched for his name online, only to discover that he already has been welcomed into the presence of our beautiful Savior. I pray God's mercy and grace on Marilou and all who continue to grieve their loss. When I was a student at TXSIL in Dallas back between 1995 and 1997, Dan was a mentor, confidant, and encourager to me. He had the most incredible kindness and compassion. He listened better than anyone I've ever known, and he showed how much he cared for me individually. To this day, I still repeat to others what Dan would say whenever we were parting: "Go with God."

Lori and I served SIL Philippines, 1989-93 in Government Relations. I visited dozens of government offices and departments visiting with many top officials. When introduced to these people as a member of SIL, almost everyone asked; "How is Dan Weaver?", "Where is Dan Weaver?", "Do you know Dan Weaver?" They would recall his name with fondness, love and joy. No one in SIL Philippines was better know, respected and loved by many top leaders of the nation. If you knew Dan, you knew why. He left a great legacy for the least peoples of the Philippines among their greatest leaders. It was an honor to follow in his footsteps.

They always inspired us with their commitment and dedication to serving the Lord in ALL things. Dan was a real role model about how to live a true faithful Christian life, and your dad did so for so many people that he touched lives beyond what we can ever imagine. He loved the Lord with all the gusto he could muster, and he allowed God's amazing love to flow through him to others on a daily basis. We are praying for your families as you celebrate his life. In the spring of 1978, as director of SIL Philippines, Dan interviewed Karen and me when we applied for guest helper status after our resigning from our former mission. Dan welcomed our application to invest in community health education programs which were later tied into SIL's literacy and literacy use activities.. Dan took a risk in allowing us to join. Thank you Dan, for giving us a new family and a way forward. Our field experience with SIL Philippines and Asia Area lasted until our retirement in 2013. It has been our privilege to visit and talk with Dan in his home from time to time over the past year or so.

Being an older cousin than myself, I wasn't as close to Dan as with the younger end of the family, but I DO remember him being a soft spoken, caring cousin who loved his God sincerely.
Condolences to you his family. Retain and cherish the many good memories of dad, brother, grandpa.
He is already enjoying the wonders of Heaven

Dan served as our director both during a very stressful time in the Philippines and later here at the SIL Center in the U.S. He was always wise, kind, and helpful and we appreciated him very very much.
