Cynthia Hodge Hazelwood's Obituary
Cynthia Jane Hodge Hazelwood, 73, of Albemarle, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2021 in her home. Her memorial service will be 4pm Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Canton Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Hunsucker officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
Mrs. Hazelwood was born March 4, 1948 in Stanly County, NC, to the late James Monroe Hodge and Lucille Eggleston Hodge. Cynthia formerly worked in textiles and she retired from the NC Department of Corrections as a guard. She was a member of Canton Baptist Church. Cynthia was a wonderful cook. She loved her grand babies and loved all her family.
Cynthia is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Richard Hazelwood on November 26, 2014. Survivors include two sons, James Richard Hazelwood (Tina) of Albemarle, NC and Billy Joe Hazelwood (Sarah) of Oakboro, NC; a daughter, Angela Hazelwood Russell (Aaron) of Albemarle, NC; two sisters, Joyce Hodge Faulkner of New London, NC and Sylvia Hodge Shields of Albemarle, NC; five grandchildren, Brittany Hazelwood, Dylan Hazelwood, Corbin Hazelwood, Reagan West and Ella West and a great grandchild, Huntleigh Hazelwood. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Misty Reane Hazelwood.
The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregiver, Wendy Hinson.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Endy First Responders, 25045 US Hwy. 24/27, Albemarle, NC 28001.
