Cornelius ?Pop? Jones' Obituary
Cornelius Arthur ?Pop? Jones, 85, a humble and loyal servant
here on Earth, joined our Lord in His Kingdom Monday morning while sleeping
peacefully in his bed at home.
His funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, April
27, 2019 at Uwharrie Community Church on Moss Springs Road with Pastor Ron
Loflin and Pastor Eddie Connell officiating.
Burial will follow in Stanly Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends at Stanly
Funeral Home of Albemarle on Friday evening from 6 until 8 PM.
He was married for 49 years to the love of his life, Margie
Ann Jane Lee Jones, who preceded him in death on August 2005 after a short bout
with cancer.
His immediate surviving family is two sons, David ?Wade? (Donna)
of Albemarle, and Mark Lee (Jim Polturanus) of Michigan, two sisters Julia
Frances Jones of Albemarle, Arwilla Cook of Colorado Springs, two grandsons,
John Ellison (Laura) of Badin, Sam Jones of Kentucky, and one
great-granddaughter, Freya, adopted daughter, Deborah Whitley of Concord and children
Brittany Hatley, Garrett Hatley, grandchildren Noah, Adisyn, and Brailyn of Albemarle.
He was preceded in death by a sister Venus Jones and brother Howard Jones.
A man of many talents, Cornelius was known as a wonderful husband,
father, brother, and Christian. He was blessed
with a multitude of friends because he was kind and good to everyone he met,
always grinning and uplifting with encouragement. At Uwharrie Community Church he enjoyed
socializing and making the coffee before everyone arrived. Answering the call to spread God?s word, he
shared his basement at his home to establish East Albemarle Baptist Church, now
known as Uwharrie Community Church. He served in the church in many capacities to
include deacon, usher, choir member, trustee, custodian, and more. Over the span of his working career, he
worked as an electrician for Snuggs Electric for 20 years, a meat cutter for
Golden Corral in Albemarle until it closed, and as a meat cutter/produce worker
at Harris Teeter full time, then part-time as a front-end grocery bagger and
errand runner. He and his beloved wife,
Margie, often worked together at the same employments.
