Clarence Morell Smith's Obituary
Clarence Morell Smith, 94, of Monroe passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025 in Brookdale Monroe Square. His funeral service will be 2 PM on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at High Hill Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Chris Broadway officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 until 2 PM at the church prior to the service.
Born January 31, 1931 in Franklin County, MS, he was the son of the late David Truly Smith and Anna McCaa Smith. He was a member of High Hill Primitive Baptist Church and was a retired clerk with Eastern Airlines with 31 years of service. Mr. Smith was a veteran of the US Navy. He loved to play golf and to garden. He also enjoyed woodworking and furniture making in his younger years.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Carolyn Mills Smith in 2001. He was also preceded in death by three sisters Helen Baker, Stella Fuller, and Dot Foster. Survivors include his second wife Mavis Louise Smith, son Marty Smith of Concord, brother Prentiss Smith of Florida, sister Louise Bethey of Georgia, a grandson Tyler Smith of Charlotte, and two great-grandchildren Jackson Smith and Halle Smith.
