Clara Cates Harris, 103, formerly of Albemarle passed away October 10, 2016 in Alamance Healthcare Center in Burlington.? Her funeral service will be graveside at 1 PM on Saturday, October 15, 2016 in the Oakwood Cemetery, Mebane.? The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care on Friday evening from 6 until 8 PM.
Born August 1, 1913 in Orange County, NC she was the daughter of the late Sidney Monroe Cates and Fannie Lee Neville Cates Williams.? She was a member of West Albemarle Baptist Church and was a retired employee of the Stanly County Health Department.
Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her husband Lacy H. Harris in 1976.? She was also preceded in death by an infant son.? Survivors include Diana Harris Little (Timothy) of Greensboro, grandchildren Jerry Douglas Honeycutt of Tega Cay, SC, Pamela Annette Taubman of Guadalupe, CA and Leigh Ann Little of Greensboro, NC and Allen Little of Greensboro, NC, 3 great-grandchildren Faith Honeycutt of Tega Cay, SC, Ashleigh Taubman and Gillian Taubman of Guadalupe, CA.? A brother, Clifton Monroe Cates, preceded her in death.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to West Albemarle Baptist Church, 336 Church St. Albemarle, NC 28001-3602.
