Charles (Chuck) Stewart's Obituary
Charles (Chuck) Douglas Stewart departed this life on March 11, 2021 after a short illness. Charles was born in King’s Mountain, North Carolina to James and Essie Stewart. He is survived by Patricia his wife and love of 67 years; daughter Kathleen Tweed; son-in-law Daniel Tweed; daughter Jane Stewart; granddaughter Sarah Tweed; brother James Frederick Stewart (Margaret) and many nieces and nephews. His son Charles (Doug) Stewart, Jr., brothers William and Roy Stewart preceded him in death.
Chuck served twenty-nine years with the United States Air Force. Willing to serve wherever he was needed he had many remote assignments, but whenever possible his family was with him. Over the years they moved often. To be together was most important. A short time after retiring at Pope AFB, NC he returned to work as a civil servant and retired from there in January 2000.
Chuck and Pat discovered a love of square dancing and became members of Pope Promenaders Square Dance Club in 1988. Over the years they were members of several clubs and remain active members of Camping Squares and the Square Dance Federation of NC. Chuck had a very full and happy life. He loved Camping and fishing and spent many happy days with friends at Camp Lejeune and traveling to the next dance or get together. They visited every state including Hawaii and Alaska several times in their motor home. He loved life and all its adventures, but most of all he loved his home and family.
Thank you to all the nurses and doctors of Novant Health Care who took care of him during these last difficult days. A special heartfelt thank you to Dr. David Malone for his special care of Chuck and the family and to Stacey RN for all she did to help.
Grave side services will be held on Friday, March 19, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the Sunset Memorial Garden, 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill, NC
Donations in his memory to WOUNDED WARRIORS PROJECT or TUNNEL TO TOWERS Foundation would be appreciated.
