Catherine Meadows Rogers' Obituary
Catherine Meadows Rogers, 90, of New London passed away
Saturday, March 9, 2019 in Carolinas Health Care System Stanly. Her memorial service will be on Tuesday,
March 12, 2019 at 3 PM at New London United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim
Pyatt officiating. The family will
receive friends in the church fellowship hall from 3:30 until 5:30 immediately
following the memorial service. Burial
will be held in the New London Cemetery at a later date.
Born September 8, 1928 in Macon County, NC she was the
daughter of the late CA Meadows and Catherine Gazelle Cansler Meadows. She graduated from Western Carolina
University with a Bachelors of Arts and from UNCC with a Masters in Education. She was a retired elementary school teacher
from New London Elementary where she taught 3rd and 4th
grade. She was a member of New London
United Methodist Church. Catherine loved
to travel all over the world and would have loved to have visited Japan. She also enjoyed playing cards at the Senior
Center, playing dominos every Friday night, being outside, and working in her
garden.
Ms. Rogers was married to the late Woodrow S. Rogers who
preceded her in death in 1990. She is survived by two sons; Richard Rogers
(Beverly) of Blackstock, SC, and William Rogers of Sanford, NC., a daughter
Catherine Kimmer (John) of New London, NC,
four grandchildren; Richard Kimmer, Michael Kimmer, Amy Rogers Beaver,
Abby Rogers Haberkam, six great grandchildren; Michele Kimmer, Alyson Kimmer, John
Michael Kimmer, Gage Haberkam, Eli Haberkam, and Jaxson Beaver.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to New London
United Methodist Church, PO Box 146, New London, NC 28127.
Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Albemarle is serving
the Rogers family. Memorials can be made to New London United Methodist Church
or to the donor?s choice.
