Carroll Dean Layton's Obituary
Carroll Dean Layton passed away in Albemarle, NC on October 10, 2024 at the age of 89.
Carroll is predeceased by his mother, Desdie Layton, Father, James Layton, his sisters
Della Mae Layton, Esther Crump, and his brothers Olin Layton, Ernest Layton, J.D.
Layton, and Bobby Layton.
Carroll is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Clara Gallimore Layton.
Carroll is lovingly remembered by his wife, his sisters-in-law, his many nieces and
nephews, and friends.
Carroll was born in Albemarle, NC on March 14, 1935. He attended Efird School in
Albemarle. He attended Army boot camp in 1958, served a year in Fort Sill, OK, a year in
the Army Reserves in 227 Transportation, and another year at Fort Bragg, NC. After his
military service, he worked in textiles at American Efird/Fruit of the Loom. He enjoyed
water skiing in his younger days, woodworking, collecting coins, and model trains.
