Carlyn Edward Griffin ?Cob?, ?Ed? (83) of Mint Hill, NC. passed away on August 30, 2016 after a short illness.? Born in Albemarle, NC ?November 5, 1932 to the late James W. Griffin ?Brush? and Mary Bertha Elizabeth Glover Griffin of Albemarle, NC.? He is?survived by his wife of 38 years, Addie Jo Ann McEwen Griffin of Mint Hill, NC.? Also?survived by his daughter, Carla Diane Griffin of North Myrtle Beach, SC and son, Lane?Tucker Griffin of Locust, NC, granddaughter Ryan Elizabeth Griffin and grandson Tucker Guy Griffin, his sister, Mildred Almond of Albemarle, NC, nephew Ken Almond?and nieces Carol McDonald and Vicki Rogers.?Graduated from Albemarle High School 1951, joined the Army and served in the Korean?War as a Corporal with a National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Army Occupational Medal (Germany).? Honorable discharged in 1961.? Deployed to?Germany from Fort Jackson, SC, he always said ?He landed in Germany the day the Korean War ended-just in time to celebrate.?? Graduated from Pfeiffer College with a?Bachelor of ?Science degree in 1958 on the G.I. Bill.
He retired from United Carolina Bank in 1995 and went on to pursue his passion for cars by working with Wilmar, Inc. in Charlotte until 2009.? He loved cars all his life and was?an avid Carolina Panthers fan and he and his wife Addie were original PSL owners, Silver Club, and loved to tailgate with their friends.? He will be greatly missed.
