Callie Mae Parden, 79, of Albemarle passed away Monday, November 9, 2015 in her home.? Her memorial service will be 11 AM Wednesday, November 11, 2015 in Community Baptist Church, Locust, with Rev. Scott Williams officiating.
Born July 16, 1936 in Oak Grove, LA, she was the daughter of the late William Edward Smith and Lillian Canoy Smith and was a retired dietician.? Mrs. Parden attended Vine Life Baptist Church.? She spent her life caring for the elderly, even when herself was a nursing home patient, as long as her health permitted.? She loved to cook, especially for her family.
Mrs. Parden is survived by her husband of 60 years, Earnest Parden, Jr.? Other survivors include daughter Maggie Smith and husband Norman of Albemarle, grandchildren Jeremy Clark and wife Andrea, Shannon Fisher and husband Shawn, Chad Smith, and Alyssa Smith, great-grandsons Zachary Clark, Tyler Clark and Cole Parden, siblings Myrtis Sant of Jackson, MS, Beatrice Frith of West Monroe, LA, Frances Streeter of Bastrop, LA, Carolyn McMillon of West Monroe, LA, Wayne Smith of Oak Grove, LA, and Durwood Smith of West Grove, LA.? She was preceded in death by a son Danny Parden, sister Irma McMillon, and brothers Lloyd Smith, Billy Ray Smith, and Prentice Smith.
The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Stanly and the Uwharrie, 960 N. First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001.
