Brenda Goodrich Mathew's Obituary
Brenda (Goodrich) Mathew, 77, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away on April 1, 2021, surrounded by her loving family in Locust, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Robert (Bob) Mathew of Ghent, NY. Brenda was the daughter of the late Chester and Rita (Showers) Goodrich. She is survived by two sons Brett Mathew ( Heather) of North Carolina, and Brian Mathew (Danielle) of Slingerlands; two granddaughters, Skylar and Alyssa Mathew; sister Pamela (Ralph) Conklin of Texas; brothers Brian (Vickie) Goodrich of Hudson and Clark (Joy) Goodrich of Woodstock; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Brenda was a 1961 graduate of Hunter Tannersville High School. She went on to become a registered nurse and earned a degree from Columbia Memorial School of Nursing in Hudson, NY. She worked at Columbia Memorial and Eden Park Nursing Home, retiring from the Department of Corrections in 2006. She enjoyed socializing with neighbors and made lasting friendships wherever she went. She touched the hearts of everyone she knew. She enjoyed hobbies such as cruising, golfing, playing cards, reading and dining out. The family sincerely thanks the friends at Orange Harbor that provided care and attention to Brenda. Her greatest pleasure was her family and friends who will miss her deeply. A perennial flower garden will be planted in her memory at; 920, Route 9 H, Ghent, NY 12075.
