Brenda Parks Almond's Obituary
Brenda Parks Almond,78, of Locust, NC, passed away on June 22, 2026, at the Harris Hospice Unit at Novant Health in Charlotte, NC.
Though she navigated significant physical and health challenges and pain for almost 50 years, she refused to let her circumstances define her spirit. Instead, she was a pillar of kindness, love, strength, and quiet determination for everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She loved her family, friends, flowers, cross stitching, crafting, and reading. Her resilience taught those around her about patience, courage, and the true meaning of perseverance.
Born on May 14, 1948, Brenda was the daughter of Emmanuel Guy Parks and Dorothy Parks. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a premature baby boy. She is survived by her husband of nearly 55 years, Floyd Gene Almond; her daughter Jennifer Reeves (Spencer) of Canton, NC; her grandsons, Dawson and Dallas Reeves; her sisters, Bernice Simmons of Stuart, VA and Elaine Smith of Albemarle, NC; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Special gratitude to her sister, Bernice, who served in conjunction with Brenda's husband, Floyd Gene, as her primary caregivers, so Brenda could remain at home throughout her later years.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Care through the Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center Foundation at https://www.presby.supportnovanthealth.org.
