Billy Jay Whitley's Obituary
Billy Jay Whitley, 87, of Albemarle, NC passed away Saturday November 26, 2016 at Carolinas Medical Center-Stanly. His funeral will be Monday November 28, at 2 PM in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jessie Dennis officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. The interment will be Tuesday November 29 at 10 AM in Stanly Gardens of Memory.
Born May 28, 1929 in Stanly County, Billy is the son of the late Millard Columbus Whitley and Lottie Forte Whitley. He was a graduate of New London High School and a member of Hillside Baptist Church in Albemarle. Billy was an avid bass fisherman and a member the Piedmont Bass Club.
He is survived by his three daughters, Elaine Whitley Richards (Sonny) of Albemarle, Teresa Whitley Smith (Tony) of New London, and Karen D. Whitley of Richfield. Other survivors include four grandchildren, Jennifer Richards and Jeff Richards of Summerville, SC and Anthony Smith and Steven Smith (Julie) of New London, a special nephew; Larry Kendrick and a special caretaker, Lilian Huneycutt. Billy is preceded in death by his wife Louise Whitley of 59 years and his sister, Ramona Sides.
