Billy Thomas "Tom" Chrane's Obituary
Billy Thomas “Tom” Chrane passed away on November 24, 2022, at the age of 74. The visitation will be held at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care in Albemarle on Saturday, December 3, from 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Officiating the service will be Gene Berg, Mike Elium, Derek Chrane, and Zane Chrane. Interment will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory.
Tom is predeceased by his father, Dr. Bill T. Chrane, and his mother, Laverne Chrane, of Big Spring, Texas, as well as his brothers, Steve and Charles “Chuck” Chrane.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rita Chrane; two sons, Zane and Derek (Marie) Chrane; grandson, Finley Chrane; and his beloved dog “Cowboy.” His greatest joy was watching his two loving sons mature into young men.
He is lovingly remembered by his sisters, Caren, Sharon, and Cindy, who reside in Texas and Carla, who resides in North Carolina.
Tom was born in Big Spring, Texas, on May 21, 1948. He enjoyed deep sea fishing and coaching youth sports. Two of his proudest accomplishments were inventing one of the first microprocessor-based oil well controllers and educating and enriching the lives of students during his 25 years teaching Computer Engineering Technology as a community college instructor.
