Beulah Huneycutt's Obituary
Beulah Lucille Johnson Huneycutt, 101, of Locust, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025, at Novant Mint Hill Medical Center.
Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Locust First Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. Kinney Wallace and Rev. Tommy Ross officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
Born on September 30, 1924, in Surry County, North Carolina, Beulah was the daughter of the late Wesley Johnson and Mittie Coe Johnson. She was a faithful member of Locust First Baptist Church and a retired registered nurse, a profession through which she touched countless lives with compassion and care.
Beulah will be remembered by her family as kind, fair, wholesome, and exceptionally smart, with a fun-loving spirit and a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to play gentle tricks, tell stories, and laugh-often punctuating her tales in later years with her favorite phrase, "By Gosh." A lover of old-time church music, she found joy in simple traditions and meaningful moments.
One of her most cherished stories came from her nursing days, when a young child she had cared for through a lengthy hospital stay and difficult surgery became so attached that he wanted to go home with her. The nurses joined together to buy him a tricycle, and he insisted on going home with "Mrs. Yoncy," his sweet attempt at pronouncing "Johnson"-a memory that perfectly captured Beulah's warmth and the impact she had on others.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Huneycutt, in 1987.
Survivors include her four children: Michael Huneycutt (Elaine) of Locust, Cathy McSwain (Andrew) of Albemarle, Jimmy Huneycutt of Greenacres, Florida, and Johnny Huneycutt (Lisa) of Locust; her brother, Landon Johnson of Yadkinville, North Carolina; nine grandchildren, April Huneycutt, Neal Huneycutt, Summer Broseau, Matthew Huneycutt, Tanner McSwain, Sarah Estep, Phillip Huneycutt, Jessie Alexander, and Katy Huneycutt; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to West Stanly Christian Ministries, 100 S. Love Chapel Road, Stanfield, NC 28163, or Baptist Children's Home at https://www.bchfamily.org.
