Betty McWhorter's Obituary
Mrs. Betty Broome McWhorter, age 85, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away Monday, July 13, 2015, at her residence.
Funeral Services to celebrate her life will be Thursday, July 16, 2015, at 2:30 PM at Walkersville Presbyterian Church. Visitation will precede the funeral from 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM at the church.
Mrs. McWhorter was born on August 31, 1929, in Union County, North Carolina, a daughter of the late George Wesley Broome and Nettie Brite Richardson Broome. She was in commercial retail sales for most of her life, most recently retiring from Roughedge Trading Post.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John Marion (Mac) McWhorter, Sr.; her son John McWhorter, Jr.; three sisters Annie Broome, Eula Broome, and Georgia B. Falcone and two brothers, Joseph (Buster) Broome and George Wesley (Dub) Broome.
Survivors include her son Wesley McWhorter of Waxhaw, NC; her daughter Bernice M. Wilson and husband Richard of Burnsville, NC; and her grandson Jeremy McWhorter of Waxhaw, NC ; her daughter-in-law Pamela McWhorter of Waxhaw and a personal friend of Wesley and special caregiver to Betty, Anda Wentz Norwood. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law Betty (Buster) Broome and Barbara (Dub) Broome; two step grandchildren Misty Dion and husband Ryan, and Robin Lamberty; two step great grandchildren Madison White and Noah Lamberty, and many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends who knew her affectionately as "Aunt Betty".
