As a co-worker of Betty’s for many years at New London Elementary School and then New London Choice Middle School, I can say she was a serious teacher with a sense of humor that kept her students engaged and on their toes! Her students loved it when she came to school dressed in Carolina Blue from head to toe to celebrate to March Madness!! Head. To. Toe. Then she got all into Harry Potter and turned that into very cool lessons. She dressed like Harry and taught school all day. She created games and competitions to turn her history lessons into fun…always, always holding her students accountable for proper grammar! Betty was one in a million!
