Betty Austin Gardner's Obituary
Betty Austin Gardner, 81, of Albemarle, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2025, at Trinity Place.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Poplin Grove Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Dr. John Lindsay. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 12:00 until 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Born February 20, 1944, in Richmond County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Virginia Austin. Betty was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was centered around faith, family, and the simple joys of home. She loved quilting, word puzzles, sewing, flower gardening, and cooking for those she loved.
Betty is lovingly survived by her daughters, Brenda Helms (Randy), Donna Clark, and Laura Gardner; grandchildren, Michelle Helms and Dustin Helms; great-granddaughter, Ella; sister, Thelma Gibson; and special friends, Angela Clark and Magan Sisler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everette Gardner, in 2021, and by her brother, Robert Austin Jr.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Trinity Place and Tillery Compassionate Care for their kindness and care during Betty’s declining health.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Betty’s honor to Tillery Compassionate Care, 960 N 1st Street, Albemarle, NC 28001.
