Betty Jean Burleson's Obituary
Betty Jean Hatley Burleson, 85, of Albemarle, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Trinity Place.
A funeral service to celebrate Betty's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Pine Grove Methodist Church, officiated by Pastor Monty Clark and Dale Burleson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
Born on June 12, 1941, in Stanly County, Betty was the beloved daughter of the late Paul and Eva Hatley.
Betty devoted her life to the people she loved most. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her cherished granddaughter, Samantha, who brought immeasurable happiness to her life. She found delight in the simple pleasures; camping with family, traveling to the mountains, and gathering loved ones together during the Christmas season to make her treasured homemade candy. A faithful member of Pine Grove Methodist Church, Betty enjoyed the fellowship of the church women's group and valued the lifelong friendships she made there. She also shared a special bond with her beloved canine companion, Gracie, who brought her years of faithful companionship and unconditional love.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving daughter, Debby Burleson Stiller; her beloved granddaughter, Samantha Stiller; brothers-in-law, Shearon Burleson, Reid Burleson, and Eddie Harris; sister-in-law, Ellen Kuhn; along with many treasured nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Carroll Warren Burleson, in 2009; her beloved son, Ronald Burleson; her brothers, Kenneth Hatley and Dewey Hatley; and her sister, Paulette Harris.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers of Tillery Compassionate Care and Trinity Place. They are especially thankful to Pat Whitley, Sheila Blalock, Sharon Ruppe, Lessie White, and Shorty Hatley for the exceptional love, kindness, and support they provided to Betty throughout her declining health. Their compassion brought comfort not only to Betty but also to her family during a difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tillery Compassionate Care, 960 N. First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
Betty's life was a beautiful reflection of faith, love, and quiet generosity. She found joy in life's simple blessings, treasured every moment spent with family and friends, and touched countless lives with her caring heart and gentle spirit. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created, the traditions she lovingly passed down, and the unwavering love she shared will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. May her legacy continue to inspire kindness, and may her memory forever be a source of comfort and peace.
