Barbara Dean Aasness' Obituary
Barbara Dean Aasness, 89, of Locust, peacefully passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Trinity Place.
A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Glenn Johnson and Pastor Steve Seuzeneau, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care Chapel in Locust. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Born on December 3, 1935, in Lincoln County, Barbara was the daughter of the late Grady and Tollie Helms.
She is lovingly survived by her daughters, Vickie Seuzeneau (Steve) of Southport, NC; Joann Guzman of Indian Land, SC; and Cindy Johnson (Glenn) of Locust, NC. She was the cherished grandmother of Wendy Nelson (Barry), Sandy Hough (Steve), Melissa Seuzeneau, Erin Miller, Cary Miller (Kendall), Lindsey Moran (Kevin), Ivanna Neely (Ryan), Mindy Franklin (Brian), and Nita Kirkpatrick (Mathew). Barbara was also blessed with 20 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a sister, Shirley Grainger Finney (Jerry).
She was preceded in death by eight siblings.
Barbara was a devoted mother, grandmother, and sister whose life exemplified kindness, humility, and service to others. She was known for her unwavering dedication to her family and for always putting the needs of others before her own. A woman of remarkable work ethic, she instilled in her children and grandchildren the importance of perseverance and integrity. Barbara also found great joy in baking and spending time with family, creating cherished memories that will live on in their hearts.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Trinity Place and Tillery Compassionate Care for the love and attention shown to Barbara during her declining health.
