Anthony Clayton Swindell's Obituary
Anthony Clayton Swindell, 61, of Albemarle, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Atrium Stanly Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 6:30 PM on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Concord, with Pastor Jim Collier officiating.
Born July 23, 1964, Anthony was the son of the late Homer T. “Ted” Swindell and Ellen Swindell. He was a graduate of Garinger High School and was employed for 20 years with Plastex Fabricators in Charlotte, where he worked as a fabricator. Known to many as Tony, he was a member of First Baptist Church of Concord.
Tony’s family remember him as someone who was always smiling and always the life of the party. There was never a dull moment when he was around. He had an infectious sense of humor and loved to make others laugh. Exceptionally talented, he could do or make just about anything — whether as a painter, artist, carpenter, mechanic, or fabricator. He was a man of strong faith and loved to sing, especially “Watch the Lamb” by Ray Boltz and “Man After Your Own Heart” by Gary Chapman.
Above all, Tony deeply loved his granddaughters, who were truly the light of his life.
He is survived by his daughter, Holly Taylor and her husband Brantley Taylor of Locust; his wife, Adelina Swindell; his first wife, Mary H. Swindell; one brother, Jeffrey Swindell and his wife Donna of Hickory; and sisters, Sheree Knighton and her husband Ricky of Greenville, SC, Melanie Conway and her husband Ron of Lenoir, and Libby Usry of Florence, SC. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Raelynn Grace Taylor and Charlotte Rose Taylor.
In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Elmore.
