Annie Goode McCommons' Obituary
Annie Laurie Goode McCommons, age 94 of Albemarle, N.C. passed away on Thursday,?January 7, 2016 at the Stanly Regional Medical Center, Albemarle. ?Her service will be on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Main Street United Methodist Church?with the Rev. Fred Carpenter officiating. ?Burial will be in the Stanly Gardens of Memory. ?The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday morning from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM prior to the service.
Mrs. McCommons was born April 18, 1921 in Guilford County, N.C. to the late?Julian Lawrence Goode and Annie Josephine Walton Goode. ?She graduated from Siler City High School and was a retired employee of J.C. Penney of Albemarle.?She was a dedicated and active member of Main Street United Methodist Church since 1960. ?Taking time to encourage and stay in touch with senior adult members.?Mrs. McCommons was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and was?known for sending cards of cheer and encouragement to many.
Mrs. McCommons was married to the late Joseph Watson McCommons who preceded?her in death December 7, 2001. ?Survivors include one son, Robert J. McCommons, Sr. and wife Mary Ann of Statesville, N.C., two daughters, Joe Ann McCommons Huneycutt and husband Mickey of N. Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Judy McCommons Hopkins of Albemarle, N.C., one brother, James L. Goode of Longview Texas, one sister, Peggie Dunn of Siler City, N.C. seven grandchildren, Robert Joseph McCommon, Jr., Elizabeth Ann Humphries, Jennifer Nicole Hodges, James T. Russell, John J. Russell, Heather Parnell, and Maggie Hopkins, eight great-grandchildren, John Clayton Russell, Jordan Hopkins Parnell, Sara Kathryn Hodges, Ben Humphries, Becca Humphries, Riley Elizabeth Parnell, Clare Kathleen McCommons and Chris Turner.
