Allen Leroy Newton's Obituary
Allen Leroy Newton, 90, of Albemarle, passed away Friday, April 1, 2016 at Trinity Place.? His funeral will be 11 AM Wednesday, April 6, 2016 in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Andy Jung officiating.? Burial will follow in Stanly Gardens of Memory.? The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM prior to the service.
Born June 7, 1925 in Mecklenburg County, VA, he was the son of Harvey Allen Newton and Elizabeth Moore Newton.? A graduate of The University of Richmond, he was a retired salesman with Drexel and Sauder Manufacturing and also with the former Page Church Furniture Company of Albemarle.? He was a member of First Baptist Church of Albemarle where he served as deacon and Sunday school teacher.? He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the European Theater.
Mr. Newton was married to Frances Pope Newton of Albemarle.? Other survivors include a son, Alan Mark Newton of Thomasville, NC; a sister Daphne Jarrett of Martinsville, VA; and three grandsons.
