Melvin Earl Simpson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Melvin Earl Simpson, 81, of Norwood, NC, passed away Wednesday February 21, 2018 in his home. His funeral will be 2 PM Friday February 23, 2018 at Green Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Ron Dry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM at the church prior to the hour of the service. Earl was born March 27, 1936 in Stanly County, NC and was the son of the late John Grady Simpson and Eunice Ingold Simpson. He was a member of Green Memorial United Methodist Church. He retired from Alcoa and he loved tractors, lawn mowers and camping. Mr. Simpson was preceded in death by his wife Claudine Efird Simpson in 2011. He is survived by a son Terry Lynn Simpson and wife Pam of Norwood, NC, four grandchildren Jennifer Frashuer and husband Joey of Norwood, NC, Dustin Simpson and wife Christy of Norwood, NC, Dana Burrage and husband Charlie of New London, NC and Kam Edwards and wife Sarah of Albemarle, NC, and six great-grandchildren John and Jack Frashuer, Mason and Brooke Burrage, Paisley Edwards and Lakelyn Simpson, two brothers John Elwood Simpson of Norwood, NC and Ervin Dwayne Simpson of Norwood, NC. Mr. Simpson was preceded in death by a daughter Toni Simpson Edwards in 2003.
