Marvin Rickey Smith, 64, of Locust passed away on October 17, 2021 at Atrium Health Cabarrus. His funeral service will be at 2 PM on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Locust First Baptist Church with Pastor Tommy Ross officiating. Burial to follow. Born October 9, 1957 in Cabarrus County, NC, he was the son of the late Marvin Cornelius Smith and Caroleen Elizabeth Deal Smith. He was a member of Locust First Baptist Church and he worked at Cornerstone United and formerly was an instructor at the NASCAR technical institute where he recently retired after 19 years. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 43 years, Brenda Whitley Smith. Other survivors include son Brandon Matthew Smith and wife Stephanie of Midland, daughter Leslie Smith Stephens and husband Donny of Locust, and Megan Smith Shue and husband Matthew of Charlotte, and 6 grandchildren Bryson Smith, Hannah Stephens, Cara Stephens, Natalie Smith, and Carson and Connor Shue.
