Keith James Efird

On October 19, 2021 at 3:40 am, Keith James Efird, 78, of Locust was called home to be with his Lord and Savior. His funeral service will be at 3 PM on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021 at Providence Church of God with Rev. Jerry Ingle and Rev. Torben Stroupe officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday, Oct 23 at the church from 5 until 7 PM. Keith was born Dec. 2, 1942 in Stanly County, NC to the late Willie P. Efird and Gladys Barbee Efird. He was also preceded in death by his brother Wayne Efird and sister Wanda Morgan. Keith owned and operated Efird Grading Company until his retirement. He owned and operated Locust Restaurant for over 20 years. He served in the NC Army National Guard from 1963-1967 as a Sgt. Of Troup C 196 CAV. He was a lifelong member of Providence Church of God and served as a Sunday School teacher and Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He had previously served on the Locust Planning and Zoning Board and the Locust VFD Board of Directors. Keith was a family man whose passion was watching and supporting his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. His hobbies involved racing cars, fishing, and raising his cattle. Keith is survived by his wife of 59 years, Doris Almond Efird of the home. Other survivors include two daughters, Vicki Love (Phil) and Angie Haigler (Michael) all of Locust,NC; a brother, Doyle Efird (Dianne) of Stanfield, NC; a sister, Linda Efird Wensil (Terry) of New London, NC, sister in law, Freida Efird of Oakboro, NC; brother in law, Garry Morgan of Albemarle, NC; five grandchildren, Bradley Love of Simpsonville, SC, Allysan Love, Randi Griffin (Devin), Dylan Haigler and Ashlyn Haigler all of Locust, NC and three great grandchildren, Jordan Love, Bentley Griffin and McKynlee Griffin.
