James Franklin Keever

James Franklin Keever, 71, of Albemarle passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Stanly Regional Medical Center. His funeral will be Saturday, January 9, in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel at 11 AM with Rev. Joe Smith officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Born December 2, 1944, in Stanly County, he was the son of the late John Keever and Ocie Lithicum Keever. James was a graduate of Albemarle High School and was retired from the NC Department of Corrections. Mr. Keever was an avid fan of the Duke Blue Devils and Albemarle Football. He loved his special dog Abby and listening to beach music. James was married to the living Susan Black Keever of the home. He is survived by two daughters, Carmen (Charley) Vikojan of Connelly Springs, NC, and Samantha Keever of Albemarle, and one sister, Glenda Simmons of Hermitage, TN. Other survivors include several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the NC School for the Deaf Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 1397, Morganton, NC 28680 or Community Home Care & Hospice of Troy, 120 N Main St, Troy, NC 27371.
