Ann Greenwell

Ann Greenwell, 89, a native of Charlotte, passed away Friday, February 18, 2022. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 23 at 11 AM in the Stanly Gardens of Memory Mausoleum in Albemarle with Rev. Rodney Holmes officiating. Born May 8th, 1932, she was the daughter of the late William and Fannie Caldwell. Ann lived in Washington DC at the start of her career with the government where she met her husband Lee Greenwell and both returned to Charlotte. Ann enjoyed the outdoors and time in her gardens. Ann retired from the US Government Department of Defense in 1987 after 37 years. Ann and Lee moved from Charlotte to Badin Lake in 1988 where they spent their retirement traveling the country and visiting Lee's family in Illinois. Ann is survived by her sons Loren Greenwell (Diane) of California, Eric Greenwell of New London, and Curtis Greenwell (Lisa) of Troy. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christina, Greg, Erica, and Brent Greenwell, Brooke Cranford, and her great-grandchildren, Addie Cranford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Stanly & the Uwharrie at 960 N. First St. Albemarle, NC 28001. Stanly Funeral & Cremation Care of Albemarle is serving the Greenwell family.
