Zelma Lineberry Hopkins, age 90, of 33426 Old Salisbury Road, Albemarle, NC, passed away on Tuesday, October 12th, 2010 at Britthaven of Piedmont Nursing Center in Albemarle, NC. Her graveside service will be at 3:30 PM on Thursday, October 14th, 2010 at the Palestine Cemetery and her family will receive friends at the Stanly Funeral Home from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM just prior to the hour of service. Rev. Darrell Rabon will officiate and burial will be in Palestine Cemetery.
Born March 21st, 1920 in Stanly County, NC, Mrs. Hopkins was the daughter of the late George W. and Carrie Thompson Lineberry and was a retired employee of Wiscassett Mills Co. She was a member of Albemarle Wesleyan Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Hopkins; one son, Tommy Hopkins; two brothers, Leonard Lineberry and George Lineberry; and three sisters: Virginia Rabon, Robbie Miller, and Patsy Morgan. She is survived by two daughters, Delores Chandler and husband Dean of Gastonia, NC and Brenda Poplin and husband Bill of Locust, NC; two sisters: Cornelia Ledbetter Hinson of Lancaster, SC and Shirley Smith of Kissimmee, FL; six grandchildren: Rhonda, Mitzi, Deborah, Phillip, Elizabeth, and Michelle; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
