Virginia Irene Ayers Marshall, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center in Christiansburg, VA. Her family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM and her funeral will be at 11 AM on Friday, June 4, 2010 in Stanly Funeral Home's Chapel. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park in Albemarle, NC.
Born May 24, 1924 in Itmann, WV, Virginia Irene Ayers Marshall was born to the late Joseph Floyd and Rosie May Conner Ayers and was a retired food service employee. She was a member of Albemarle Pentecostal Holiness Church of Albemarle and enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, reading and walking on the beach.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilford Ray "Bill" Marshall; her son, Lonnie Andrew Brannan; and daughter, Carolyn Sue Marshall. She is survived by her sons: Lawrence Lee Brannon of Meadows of Dan, VA and William Ray Marshall of New London, NC; daughters: Evelyn Faye Coble of Hillsville, VA, Linda Kaye Sadler of Winston-Salem, NC, and Cathy Jean Wadkins of Oakboro, NC; brothers: Donald Wayne Ayers of Hillsville, VA and Clyde Eugene Ayers of Washington; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
