Mrs. Viola Mae Burris Simpson, age 91, of 41105 South Stanly School Road, Norwood, NC, passed away on Monday, December 13th, 2010 at her home.  Her family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home from 6 PM to 8 PM on Tuesday evening and her funeral will be at 2 PM on Wednesday, December 15th 2010 at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church.  Elder David Anderson and Steven Aldridge, Mrs. Simpson's Grandson, will officiate and burial will be in Cedar Grove's Church Cemetery. 

Born January 30th, 1919 in Stanly County, NC, Mrs. Simpson was the daughter of the late James C. and Sarah Morton Burris and was a retired employee with Collins & Aikman Corp.  She was a member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church. 

Mrs. Simpson was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Simpson.  She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Simpson Aldridge and husband Bill of Norwood, NC; two grandchildren, Tommy and wife Pam and Steven and wife Erin; and five great-grandchildren.
