Tommy Lavell Collier, age 64, of 28809 Hatley Farm Road, Albemarle, NC, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at his home. His family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM and his funeral will be at 2 PM on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Full Gospel Mission Church in Albemarle, NC. Rev. Mitchell Cook will officiate and burial will be in Stanly Gardens of Memory with full military graveside rites conducted by the Stanly County DAV Ritual Team.
Born August 22, 1945 in Oglethorpe, GA, Mr. Collier was the son of the late Archie and Berta Barfield Collier and was a retired truck driver with Allied Systems with 30 years of service and a Veteran of the US Navy. He was a member of Full Gospel Mission Church of Albemarle, NC where he served as a deacon and sound technician. He was a devoted loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Maude Hill Collier; one son, Tommy Lavell Collier, Jr. of Albemarle, NC; two daughters: Angel Collier Huneycutt and husband Tim of Albemarle, NC and Bridgette Collier Davis of Albemarle, NC; four brothers: Sonny Collier, Elton Collier, Melvin Collier, and Daniel Collier all of Georgia; two sisters: Betty Ruth Roberts and Margaret Wiggins both of Georgia; and one grandchild: Rhett Lawrence Davis.
