Mr. Robert Bain Hicks, 73, of Charlotte, NC passed away on Saturday, July 25th, 2009 at Carolinas Medical Center Mercy in Charlotte, NC. His funeral will be at 1 PM on Wednesday, July 29th in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 11 AM until 1 PM at the Funeral Home prior to the hour of service. Rev. Sarah Kalish will officiate and burial will be in Palmerville Cemetery.
Born October 15, 1935 in Stanly County, NC, Mr. Hicks was the son of the late Ray Eddins Hicks and Eva Burleson Hicks. He was a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill class of 1958, a retired employee of Consoweld Corporation, and a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church. He was an entrepreneur who spent his life helping others. He was a caring man who took pride in motivating others to achieve excellence in their lives and careers. He was an avid reader who enjoyed life and loved his family. He was also a former member of the Air National Guard.
He is survived by his loving wife Barbara Daniels Hicks of the home. Other survivors include two sons; Russell Bain Hicks and wife Laurie of Charlotte, NC and Reade Brendan Hicks of Fort Mill, SC; and one daughter, Robin Chandler and husband Mark of Charlotte, NC. One brother, Ray Eddins Hicks, preceded him in death.
